To be certified by the ASME, an individual or company goes through preparation, application and assessment. In each of these stages, the organization follows strict protocol in order to assure that the applicant conforms to established safety standards. Another organization that sets standards in welding is the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). Many specifiers, policy makers, regulators and inspectors refer to the CSA’s welding standards because of their technical excellence, which is the result of a consensus process that goes through extensive peer reviews.
